GLAMOURSAlthough her casual outfits tend to be more diverse, these are some of the classic outfits Aeryn wears when performing her duties. She treats them as a sort of uniform, combining her sense of fashion with practicality, such as freedom of movement and battlefield visibility. She favors bright red, white, and black in her clothing choices, but sometimes will broaden her palette if the mood strikes her.

CLASSIC WHITE MAGEThis was Aeryn's first outfit when she became a fully certified white mage. She has worn it more than any of her other glamours and continues to use it regularly. The white campanulas in her hair are her favorite flower and smell of mint.

DANCERAeryn was influenced to learn the dancer job by her sister and by Ainara, both accomplished dancers themselves. Her outfit is designed to be eye-catching and free flowing.

DARK MAGEFollowing a period of extraordinary loss and grief, Aeryn took to wearing darker clothes and black campanulas. Unexpectedly, Aeryn found the clothes gave her strength of resolve to confront and release the darkness that had built up inside of her for so many years. She subsequently adopted black as a signature color, equal in importance to the white she had favored most of her life.

FLORAL MAGEAeryn rarely wears blue but this suikan features a rich, deep shade that she regards as a rare treasure. The garment is one she primarily wears in spring when celebrating seasonal rebirth, and features floral elements and her signature reds.

MOONFIRE MAGEAeryn typically wears this outfit around the annual Moonfire Faire and Rising celebration. The moogle mask is one of her treasures and one of the first possessions she obtained when returning to Eorzea after being trapped in the Aetherial Sea following the Calamity.

MODERN WHITE MAGEFollowing the trials of Endwalker, Aeryn found herself spending more time in tropical environments. She was obligated to choose lighter clothing as a result, and began wearing a red Yukata gifted to her by her close friend Lira.

SUMMERIn the hottest stretch of summer, Aeryn frequently can be found in various types of beachwear on her island in the Cieldalaes or on the beach near her home in the Mist.

WINTERApart from sitting by a fire with a warm beverage, Aeryn is not a fan of the extreme cold of winter and bundles up when it approaches. She does, however, enjoy instigating snowball fights when the opportunity arises.

CRAFTERAeryn enjoys crafting items and wears a sensible, yet still fashionable, outfit when she does so. The vest and skirt are durable fabric while the blouse remains breathable. She wears eye protection and keeps a pocket watch handy for precise timing.

HISTORY OF AERYN AS MY OCI've had OCs named Aeryn since around 1999, after hearing the name used in Farscape. Aeryn began as a half-elf bard party member in Baldur's Gate 1, and later as a character I made in Ultima Online around the same time.She showed up again in Final Fantasy XI in 2003 as a mithra alt I created and later as a miqo'te alt in Final Fantasy XIV in 2010. It was FFXIV where she finally added Nyx as her surname. After taking a break from FFXIV 1.0 for an extended period, she became my main character when I rejoined the game in 2019.Since that time, she's become my all-time favorite OC and shows up in various incarnations in other games I play, including revising her half-elf bard version in Baldur's Gate 3.

FFXIV LoreAlthough she's shown up in various games, the mainstream lore for Aeryn is centered in the FFXIV storyline.

Early Background:
Aeryn was born in 1533 during the Sixth Astral Era, and survived the Calamity of 1572, but she tragically lost her spouse (Ainara), family, friends, and home in the process. She bears an eldritch mark between her shoulder blades as a result of being transported into the future during her escape via the Aetherial Sea. She feels a special kinship with the handful of others she has met with similar marks.Aeryn's memories were damaged during the time skip, and she remains fairly forgetful at times. Periodically, she experiences flashbacks of her life before the Calamity, similar to her visions from the Echo. She rarely talks about these episodes, but she always cherishes them.Aeryn has accepted her role as a Warrior of Light, but longs to rebuild a normal, simple life for herself.Aeryn & Ainara:

Aeryn's favorite dish is meat miq'abobs. Based on a traditional Keeper of the Moon recipe, the smell and taste of miq'abobs are one of her strongest remaining childhood memories and always remind her of her pre-Calamity home. Since they are readily available, she usually doesn't prepare her own.Aeryn's favorite drink is tsai tou vounou, a herbal, mountain tea. Since discovering it in recent years, she can frequently be found brewing it at home. While not something from her childhood, she's found that it brings her peace and helps her focus on her work.Morning Routine:
Aeryn is usually up by 10 AM, 11 AM at the latest. Hot chocolate and croissant in bed, delivered by retainers with the Eorzean newspaper. Morning stretches. Morning target practice. A brisk run up and down the steps outside the FC house. A swim in the hot springs. Bath. Coffee. And then the day begins with a dance in her private rooms to the song she and Ainara danced to at their wedding.

A Vignette by Luna Kaguya (@fortune_ffxiv)A fresh, forest breeze blew through the woodland city of Gridania as it gently pushed a Miqo'te girl towards an old, oak tree. As if it was guiding her here. She held her long, black hair back, observing the sight that stood strong in front of her.“Is this the place?” She spoke. Softly enough for her voice to be carried away by the airy element into her surroundings. The fair skinned Moon Keeper had recently come to the peace loving city state and joined the Adventurer’s Guild where Mother Miounne pointed her in the direction of this guild.“You seem to be very caring, Aeryn. I feel you would make a lovely conjurer.” The interaction replayed in her mind as she pictured the motherly Elezen beaming at her from behind the counter. “It’s located in Old Gridania, in an old oak tree next to the Lotus Stand. You can’t miss it.” She snapped out of her thoughts to look at the sight once again.“This must be the Conjurer’s Guild.” Two voices said in sync. One was Aeryn’s while the other belonged to someone more energetic sounding. She turned to the source to see a dark skinned Miqo’te standing beside her. She was staring back with her purple cat-like orbs. She was a Seeker of the Sun, opposite to Aeryn, and had long black hair, in a low ponytail, with white highlights going through it. The girl smiled. “Are you joining the Conjurer's Guild too?”“Oh, um… y-yeah.”“Then I guess we’ll be fellow conjurers in training! I’m Ainara!” She extended her hand out for a handshake with a big grin. Aeryn stared at her then looked down at her hand.“I’m… Aeryn.” She gently shook Ainara’s hand.“Nice to meet you Ryn-Ryn!” The sun catgirl enthusiastically shook Aeryn’s hand, causing the circular glasses on her face to bounce up and down with her.“R-Ryn-Ryn?”“Let’s go sign up Ryn-Ryn!” Before Aeryn could question anything, Ainara pulled her along as they ran into the Conjurer’s guild together.Arriving at the centre of the tree, the duo came to a halt before scanning their surroundings. They were both in awe at the amazing view before them. A wooden bridge that led over a body of water to a gathering of people.”Whoa! It’s more spacious here than expected.” Ainara's eyes quickly moved from side to side as she looked around the elderly plant. Left, right, left, right. It was as if she was watching a tennis match. “You wouldn’t think so much could fit in here.”“Um. Ainara, was it?” The excitable girl made eye contact with Aeryn once again. They gazed into each other’s eyes.

“What’s up?”“You’re… still holding my hand.”“Ah, sorry.” She swiftly let go of Aeryn’s hand. “I tend to get carried away sometimes hehe.” Rubbing the back of her head, she laughed awkwardly.“Might you both be interested in joining the conjurer’s guild?” A calming voice called out to them. Both of the catgirls glanced over the bridge to see a short, white haired Hyur smiling over at them. He was standing in front of the gathering of people. Like a teacher at the front of a classroom.“Yes we are!” Ainara jogged over to him with Aeryn slowly following behind.“Then welcome budding conjurers. I am E-Sumi-Yan and I shall be teaching you the ways of nature and the elements.” The Padjal opened his arms gleefully in welcome. “What are your names?” His eyes shifted over to Aeryn who stood stiffly in front of him with her arms tightly hugging her sides. Someone would think she was applying for the army.“I-I’m Aeryn Nyx. Thank you for having me.”“Be at ease Aeryn, you can relax here.” The conjurer gently smiled at her.“Yeah, we’re not signing up to join the Garleans or anything Ryn-Ryn.” Ainara chuckled, patting Aeryn’s back. The Moon Keeper anxiously looked down at the ground.“R-Right, my apologies.” Watching her, Ainara started to feel a bit bad.“Sorry Ryn-Ryn, I didn’t mean to-”“How about you, Seeker of the Sun?” E-Sumi-Yan unknowingly interrupted. She looked at the guild leader, back at Aeryn then turned her full attention to him“Ainara reporting for duty!” She did a salute to the hyur which made him chuckle. His eyes wandered to Aeryn before going back to Ainara.“The elementals rejoice at your joinings.” He beamed with delight. “Now to assign you both your first task.”“We have to slay squirrels, ladybugs and funguars?!” Ainara yelled up into the heavens, making the wildlife flee in fear. “Give us something more exciting!”“We need to… level up and learn… stronger spells… before we can progress.” Aeryn answered between breaths as she cast multiple Stone 1s on a ladybug. Ainara watched her fellow conjurer, seeing the determination and focus on her face. There was something about it that made her want to try her best too.“I know. you’re right..” Admitting defeat, Ainara found an unsuspecting squirrel and casted an Aero to aggro it. “Time to get serious.” Both of the girls focused on their targets, hitting the poor creatures with every spell they had. A death cry erupted from a creature as it fell to the ground. Ainara fell to the ground too. She laid on the grass in relief.“Finally done! That was a lot tiring than expected, huh Ryn-Ryn?”There was no answer. “Ryn-Ryn?” There was just the sound of the wind whistling. Ainara got up before looking around. “Where did she go? She was here just a moment ago…”“Aaahhh!” As if on queue, a scream rang from deeper within the forest.“That sounded like Aeryn!” She instinctively sprinted in the direction of the scream.Her heart and mind was racing as she hurried towards the scene. When did we get separated? How long was she gone for? Why was I so worried about someone I only just met? Ainara stopped in her tracks.“Why am I so worried over someone I just met?” She placed her hand on her racing heart. The roar of an annoyed creature broke her thought, causing her to come back to her senses. She spotted a Goobbue chasing after a familiar black haired cat girl. “Ryn-Ryn!” Aeryn glanced over in a panic.“Ainara! Ahhh!” She tripped on a tree root sticking out and fell to the ground.“Ryn-Ryn!” Ainara started shaking as she watched the Goobbue slowly approach her new friend. “What do I do?! I’m not at a high enough level to stop it with conjurer… but!”Aeryn violently shook in fear, holding her conjurer cane out in front of her. All she could do was watch as the Goobbue slowly approached. Tears were streaming down her face. Was her life going to end here? She didn’t even get to travel. She shut her eyes tightly, wishing for a miracle.“Hyahh!”“Aaargh!” The cry of the beast caused Aeryn to open her red pupils as she saw someone wearing a rose pink Ao Dai in front of her. The beautiful patterns on their Quan trousers were also dyed rose pink and their black tail bounced up and down in front of her. She gingerly glanced up at her saviour.“Ainara…”“Stand back, I got this.” Aeryn couldn’t see her face, since her back was to her, but she could hear a smile in her voice. Along with some nerves. The seeker of the sun started to dance with two circular, stunning but sharp weapons. One in each hand. “You leave my new friend alone!” She moved in ways Aeryn had never seen before. The glowing colours emerging from her fellow conjurer was hypnotising. It memorised her. It was like the sun itself.“Hyah!” Ainara did a spin as the moves hit the Goobbue, making it stumble back in pain. She didn’t stop there. She continued to dance whilst also throwing her weapons at the creature. Continuous roars of agony came from it as it was using all of its might to stay alive. All while Aeryn remained in a trance. She wanted to learn all these dances, it was art to her. So eye-catching and elegant. “Yah!” The Goobbue finally collapsed to the ground as the dancer placed her weapons on her hips and ran back over to Aeryn. She fell to her knees.“Are you okay? Why were you so far out in the forest by yourself? Please let me know if you’re going somewhere next time!” Questions poured out as Aeryn blankly stared at the dancer. “Answer me Ryn-Ryn. Please.” She placed her hands on the speechless catgirl’s shoulders which instantly snapped her out of her thoughts. She couldn’t make eye contact with her.“I-I needed to slay one more funguar and… didn’t want to disturb you since you were fighting… so I-”“You should have waited for me!” Ainara sounded as if she wanted to cry but held it in. Aeryn could feel her hands shaking on her shoulders.“My apologies…” Ainara took a deep breath then grinned.
“All that matters is that you’re okay.” She hugged Aeryn to which Aeryn slowly put her arms back around her.“Your dancing was… beautiful. What were those moves?” Ainara broke the hug.“Huh? Oh I haven’t told you yet. I’m from Thavnair, the home of the class Dancer. We use our dancing to attack, support and empower our allies.”“That sounds like a beautiful class...” Ainara could almost see sparkles in Aeryn’s red, round eyes. She really was mesmerised by her dancing.“It is! I can teach you sometime if you’d like?”“R-really?”“I’d love to! But you have to promise to show me around Eorzea and… be my first Eorzean friend.” Ainara stuck her little finger out. Aeryn glanced at her then at her finger. She stuck her little finger out too, locked it with Ainara and shook it.“Deal.” The Thavnarian Miqo’te saw a little smile grow on Aeryn’s lips and couldn’t help but smile too.“But I’ll teach you another time.” She stood up and put her hand out. “Can you stand?”“Y-yeah, I think so.” Aeryn took her hand as she pulled her up.“Let’s get back to the Roost and get you rested up Ryn-Ryn.”“O-okay!”

Cherished Memories

A place where most wide eyed adventurers come to start their journeys. Hoping to become the next The Warrior of Light who inspires others, to this day, to take the risk and dive into the excitement too. Just like Aeryn does.A fresh, forest breeze gently blows against the short black hair of a miqo'te as she stands in front of the old, oak tree. The home of the conjurer's guild. It stands proud over her, sheltering her from the sun's harsh rays above. She was currently there on business for the Scions. They were all to attend a meeting at Lotus Stand however, she arrived early so there was time to spare. Her red orbs gaze up at the overgrown plant. She's been here many times throughout her adventures but being here. In this exact spot, it always felt so important to her. Even if she couldn't remember much before the Calamity struck. It was like something was gnawing at her from inside. Trying to tell her something..."Are you joining the Conjurer's Guild too?" The heroine's ears pointed upwards in surprise to the sudden upbeat voice. It had caught her off guard.
"Oh, urn... y-yeah." She turned her head to see purple cat-like eyes which stared right back at her. The girl was a Seeker of the Sun, opposite to Aeryn. Her dark skin shone in the light that trickled past the leaves in the trees. Along with the white highlights in her long black hair.
"Then I guess we'll be fellow conjurers in training!" She beamed as she extended her hand. "I'm-" Everything fizzled out...Aeryn sat on the grass, leaned against a tree; she violently trembled in fear with gritted teeth. Her weapon was held out in front of her for protection. All she could do was watch as the Goobbue slowly approached. Tears streamed down her face as she shut her eyes tightly.
"Hyahh!"
"Aaargh I" The cry of the beast caused the conjurer to open her eyes. She was greeted by someone in a rose pink Ao Dai in front of her. The beautiful pink patterns on their Quan trousers matched their dress as their black tail swayed side to side. She slowly glanced up at the back of her saviour.
"Stand back Ryn-Ryn, I got this.""Your dancing was... beautiful. What were those moves?" Aeryn's red eyes sparkled in awe. She really was mesmerised by her dance.
"Huh? Oh I haven't told you yet. I'm from Thavnair, the home of the class Dancer. We use our dancing to attack, support and empower our allies."
"That sounds like a beautiful class..."
"It is! I can teach you sometime if you'd like?"
"R-really?"
"I'd love to! But you have to promise to show me around Eorzea and... be my first Eorzean friend." The dancer stuck her little finger out. Aeryn glanced at her then at her finger. She stuck her little finger out too then wrapped it around the girl's. They shook it.
"Deal!"The visions soon start to zoom through, flashing what appears to be different parts of their life together. The both of them sightseeing, travelling Thavnair, battling alongside each other; finally. Them at the Sanctum of the Twelve. Both of them standing at the altar, gazing into each other's eyes...
"I love you Ryn-Ryn."
"I love you too... Ainara." They lean in to kiss each other..."Aeryn." The Warrior of Light immediately snaps out of her thoughts. She looks down then turns to see Y'shtola standing behind her. "The meeting is about to begin." The mage caught sight of a tear going down the miqo's cheek. "Did something happen? You're crying." It took a bit for the dancer to realise... All of what she saw... was visions of her past... before the calamity. Ainara... she uses her finger to wipe the tear.
"Just reminiscing on some... cherished memories." She smiles.
